Hi friends! Such a chilly week and weekend. It's been snowing for the past days and for those who don't know, I am not an avid fan of Snow.
But what bugged me more about this week is that this morning, yeah, this very Valentines Day morning, a man rang our bell and of course my husband opened the door and in front of him there stand a man wearing in his fancy suit and identified himself from NHK! For those who do not know what NHK is? It's a Television Communications Network here in Japan. And without any fuss, he asked payment right away from my husband and told him that it's Japan's rule that we are OBLIGED to pay NHK and it's rule, it is in Japans Law that NHK should demand payment EVEN YOU DON'T WATCH THEIR CHANNEL AND WORST OF ALL EVEN THOUGH YOU DON'T OWN ANY TELEVISION! WTF man! This is absurd! And that is not all that, he further reason that NHK is not only viewed on TV but also accessible on your MOBILE PHONES.
WTF NHK! Really? Seriously? Even if we own a television, we just use it for movies. Not for watching Local Networks here in Japan. I will state the following reasons why: Firstly, the broadcast is in JAPANESE (Nihongo) I don't understand full Japanese man...And it's not exciting watching something that you DO NOT UNDERSTAND. It would be a complete waste of time. Imagine yourself watching the News and you just simply don't understand what the News is really about. So you just gonna end up guessing that this maybe what happened by just basing it from the footage that the News was showing. Don't you think it's ridiculous...hahaha...Secondly, we don't have time to watch TV. Third, if ever I watch local stations I don't even watch from NHK. Fourth, I find sometimes that shows in Japan are just very non sense. Fifth, I always get my News Feeds from the internet because it's super quick and easy.
I find that NHK is just too unprofessional in handling this scenario. It completely made me and my husband SHOCKED even PARALYZED having this experience. Okay, given a chance that the government had passed a court order about this matter, at least they should have sent some memos through the mail, informing people that we will be collecting payments and explaining thoroughly why such collections need to be done. But they did not do that, they just marched and barged into your doors and baamm! Or maybe announcing it on News but maybe they have announced it on the News but since I don't watch NHK I did not know. This proves that I don't watch you NHK, so please do not assume! This is just so freaking me out because Local or National Stations should it be meant to be viewed free for the people to see? And with all the scams that's happening everywhere, obviously, it would made you freak out when somebody knocked, stand by your door, introducing himself as Pedro and asked you money. And why door to door? why not the payment need to be payed in your office?
This made me realize. NHK are you currently going on bankrupt? Isn't it supposed that you'll be earning from Commercials and Advertisements so that you can serve and operate your station? Why not post more advertisements instead of asking money from people? MANDATORILY? Can't you be creative enough in order your station to climb up? I bet you ranked on the lowest position in station ratings. Because I find that your actions are just been handled so DISPARATELY.
OMG! I feel so violated and harassed by their actions. I believe that I am a good taxpayer in Japan and I have not violated any law suddenly something like this happened. WTF!
I believe that it's not just me and my husband have experienced this because after that man went away I automatically search the net for the same exploit and I found some articles about it.

I really do find this very OUTRAGEOUS! Don't you think? I just hope that this matter would be cleared and wiped out from it's blurriness of the situation because up to this moment I am still in daze...hehe...I still cannot wipe it out from my brain what had just happened this morning. I for sure I am not obviously be moving forward because I heard him telling my husband that he will be back....hahaha...Oh My Goodness!
